The Cherokee

Cara is an eighth-generation resident of Rogers County, Oklahoma—or what is now known as Rogers County, Oklahoma. She is a direct descendant of Old Settler Cherokee Chief John Rogers, who lived in the Cooweescoowee District of the Cherokee Nation, which included what is now Rogers County prior to Oklahoma statehood. Rogers was the nephew of former Cherokee Nation Chief Tahlonteeskee and Chief John Jolly, who served the nation prior to removal on the Trail of Tears. Chief John Rogers is buried in Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

The Professional

As a second generation college graduate and daughter of two retired Oklahoma educators, Cara values education of all types and understands the needs for career paths in the Cherokee Nation.

Cara earned her Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Telecommunications Management without receiving any funds from the Cherokee Nation and zero student loans. The Legislator

Cara has served as the elected Tribal legislator for portions of Tulsa and Rogers Counties, Oklahoma for almost 12 years.
